Job description
We are hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer on behalf of our client – a fast-paced, innovation-driven company in New York with a startup mindset. This is a hybrid role, requiring at least two days a week on-site in NYC.
This is not a managerial role, but we are seeking someone highly professional, self-driven, and capable of independently setting priorities and executing tasks. The right candidate is expected to be mindful, demonstrate urgency, and be available in emergency situations (24/7) if needed.
Key Responsibilities:
• Own and manage CI/CD processes with Azure DevOps: Setup, optimize, and troubleshoot workflows and pipelines.
• Work fluently in AWS: Confident in managing and optimizing AWS services, with a particular focus on Lambda cost-efficiency and strategic use of newer features.
• Ensure observability and operational excellence: Use Datadog to set up monitoring, alerting, and performance dashboards. Proactively identify and escalate critical issues and their impact – even up to the CEO level.
• Collaborate across teams with a startup-level understanding of urgency, autonomy, and accountability.
• Uphold high standards of system reliability, security, and performance.
Job requirements
Key Requirements:
• 5 to 10 years of relevant DevOps experience.
• Prior experience in startup environments or similarly fast-moving cultures.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Azure DevOps, AWS (especially Lambda), and Datadog.
• A clear, personal understanding of what operational excellence means and how it contributes to business success.
• Strong communication skills and a proactive mindset.
• Willingness to participate in multiple rounds of interviews as part of the selection process.
