Job description
Our client, a leading precision oncology company, is looking for a Histology Technologist to join their team in New York.
In this role, you’ll process patient specimens under the supervision of the Histology Laboratory Manager and Pathologists, ensuring quality control and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Histology Processing: Perform routine and non-routine tasks including microtomy, H&E staining, immunohistochemistry, and sample preparation.
Quality Control: Ensure the highest standards for quality, identify potential issues impacting test results or safety, and communicate them to the appropriate management.
Collaboration: Work with Pathologists and cross-functional teams to ensure timely specimen processing while maintaining high quality.
Technical Support: Assist with troubleshooting, process improvements, and sample returns.
Training & Development: Assist in the training of new laboratory personnel and develop workflows, protocols, and SOPs.
Documentation & Compliance: Adhere to regulatory requirements and document corrective actions for any issues.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform equipment maintenance and calibration as needed.
Job requirements
Education: AA or equivalent required; Bachelor's in Biomedical Laboratory Science, Clinical Science, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: At least 4 years of related experience in a high-complexity laboratory.
Certifications: Active ASCP Board of Certification in HT/HTL and/or QIHC certification preferred.
Skills:
Proficient in tissue processing techniques such as microtomy, slide preparation, H&E staining, and immunohistochemistry.
Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze and solve basic issues impacting test performance.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Proficiency with computers and automation systems.
